During your consultation, your dentist will examine your teeth for any signs of decay and gum disease. As responsible dentists, we will only go ahead with cosmetic dental treatment if your teeth and oral soft tissues are in good health. We will ask you about your treatment goals and answer any questions you might have about treatment.

Preparing for treatment

We recommend a pre-treatment hygienist cleaning to remove plaque and tartar from your gum line. With these stains removed prior to whitening, the whitening gels can then work the maximum amount of magic on your teeth. Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth, which are sent away to the Philips dental laboratory.

Your treatment

Once your whitening trays are ready, you can start your treatment, wearing the trays for 4-7 hours, either day or night – choose when you wear your trays to suit your lifestyle.

Review

Your dentist will ask you to come in for a review. If your teeth have not yet reached the desired shade, your dentist may recommend a few days of additional use with the whitening gels.

Does teeth whitening damage enamel?

Professional teeth whitening uses safe levels of hydrogen and carbamide gels.

These do not damage your tooth enamel when used for the correct amount of hours and days, as stipulated by your dentist.

Teeth whitening should only ever be carried out by a medical professional – this is the only way to guarantee it is performed using safe levels of the chemicals used for whitening.

How long does tooth whitening last?

You can expect the effects to last for between 6 and 12 months, at which point you may wish to have a top-up to maintain the original result.

The effect of teeth whitening is less likely to last as long if you smoke, eat, or drink products that can stain the teeth, for example, red wine, tea, coffee and berries.

What causes tooth discolouration?

Teeth can be stained on the surface by food and drinks such as tea, coffee and red wine.

Tobacco smoking also stains the teeth. Acidic food and drinks such as fizzy drinks, fruit juice, and yoghurt cause erosion of the outer enamel layer. This allows the colour of the underlying yellow dentine to shine through, making the teeth appear more yellow.

I was referred to this dentist for an extraction which I was not looking forward to as I've had some bad experiences in the past. I have angina and I arrived this morning anxious, but I needn't have been. The whole experience was absolutely the best from start to finish! I had an extraction of an upper back right tooth. The procedure itself was far from pleasant, but the dentist was good.I wasn’t given any pain relief afterwards and, despite having had a local anaesthetic, the pain was quite severe and I felt the need for immediate pain relief as soon as the ordeal was over. Unfortunately you are not given anything! I would have appreciated being told in advance to bring strong paracetamol and ibuprofen to take straight after, as nothing is provided.The journey home felt very long when you’re in that much pain.

This was my first time visiting Hazelwood after being referred for an extraction. The surgery is beautiful with such a welcoming feeling the minute you walk through the door. The team are equally as amazing. As someone with mobility disabilities they were so accommodating. I was left feeling completely comfortable. The procedure itself was completed in around 25 to 30 minutes when including numbing time. I felt no pain at all from the extraction just some light pressure as the tooth was eased out. I was referred to this practice by my dentist for a wisdom tooth extraction and whilst it’s not a pleasant procedure to go through I was really happy with the whole experience. I am a very anxious patient and have had poor experiences in the past with dentists. I don’t know the name of the dentist and assistant who treated me, I was in room 3 upstairs but they were both very kind, patient and made me feel as comfortable as possible. I really appreciated the cleanliness of the practice and being informed on what was happening throughout the procedure. They both also checked to see how I was doing throughout the appointment multiple times and offered to allow pause for a moment at anytime.

Was referred here for a tooth extraction. I normally find it a horrible experience and I felt so comfortable I didn't even notice that the broken tooth was out until the guy showed me, it took less than half hour, the only thing that hurt was the 3 injections. I was referred to Hazelwood Dental Practice by my own dentist for a wisdom tooth extraction. I waited around ten minutes after my appointment time before being called. The dentist was very good at her job. She explained what she was going to do and then did it. The procedure was pain free and everything went very smoothly. Once the local anaesthetic wore off a few hours later I felt some low-level pain. This was dealt with by a single dose of painkillers. The pain has not reoccurred today.All in all I was impressed by Hazelwood Dental Practice. If I lived locally I would try to get onto their patient list.

I recently had two root canal treatments done and I couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible care I received. Like many, I had heard horror stories about root canals being extremely painful—but my experience was the complete opposite.From the very beginning, the dentist took time to explain each step of the procedure clearly, which immediately helped to put my mind at ease. They were incredibly gentle, attentive, and made sure I was comfortable throughout. I was referred to Hazelwood by my dentist for a root canal. On arrival i was greeted with courtesy and a smile. My appointment started on time. The dentist took the time to discuss the treatment process and what to expect. He was very considerate when doing anything that might be uncomfortable. I had a really positive experience at this dental practice when I had my wisdom tooth and another problematic tooth removed. The oral surgeon — a kind lady wearing a brown scarf and glasses (I can’t recall her name) — was absolutely amazing. She was professional, gentle, and made me feel completely at ease, even though I was quite nervous about the extractions.She explained everything clearly, and her calm, reassuring manner made a big difference. The whole team was polite, welcoming, and supportive throughout the process. I’m really grateful for their care and would definitely recommend this practice to anyone needing dental treatment, especially oral surgery.

I was recently referred to the Hazelwood Dental Practice by my own dentist for a tooth extraction. I arrived and introduced myself. The kind staff at reception were very polite and welcomed me.I completed my consent form and waited in the sunshine for my appointment time to arrive. I was shortly called and made my way to treatment room No 3 on the first floor.I met my dentist and his pleasant assistant.A full and clear explanation of today's treatment was outlined.The process of the extraction was completed painlessly within 20 mins.An ongoing care package was then provided with brief but clear advice for my personal care.Before I left I complimented the dentist and his assistant for their professional, kind and very pleasant service.I then made my way out of the building but as I left I popped into reception to express my admiration for the excellent service because it really was first class.To finish i would like to add that this wonderful facility is fresh clean and very polished.Thank you 😊

Brilliant service - wasn’t waiting long, quick procedure, friendly staff and not that it matters but the interior is nice and stylish. The dentist did a great job, can’t believe how fast he worked without rushing, and he let me ask lots of questions. The nurse was very thorough in her explanations and made sure I was clear on the aftercare. Really happy with this experience, no complaints!

I was seen very promptly for a root canal and during when I felt a bit of discomfort I was offered more anaesthetics and felt fine after. I felt I was in and out very quick and the care taken with me helped me a lot. I never look forward to going to the dentist but this experience was a very positive one.

I went for a root canal treatment 3 hours ago at Hazelwood. I was very scared and have phobia Re injections. The doctor and the nurse were amazing. However, the injection really hurt and made me jump as it was so sudden. I hit the doctor's hand by accident, and the injection hurt even more. It was my fault. But she is heavy-handed. She was very good and thorough with what she was doing. I would recommend this practice, and the doctor, but hopefully I will not need them, for another 30, 40 years. They provide some free parking spaces, which is good because it's on a pay n' display road.The reception team are welcoming and helpful.My treatment was carried out by Dr Sheth, who was professional, yet reassuring and kind. I go to Hazelwood Dental Practice for my regular hygienist appointments. The staff are friendly and professional.The service I receive is second to none. The premises are clean and tidy. I also like the music in reception and the opportunity to watch the TV which is on the ceiling during my appointments. That is a great distraction!The Principal Dentist who carries out my appointment gives great advice and guidance. My questions and concerns are always answered.

From entering this dental practice, it was a 5 star to me, clean, clear and nicely decorated. Very kind and welcoming staff at the reception, spacious waiting area. Had to use stairs to get to the surgery room but that was OK for me. While attending to me, the dentist and the assistant were so kind and gentle with me, having my note on fear before the appointment helped them and calmed be too because they made me feel like they care and not just work. Throughout my stay, they kept me informed, checked on me. Although I don't like new people working on me but I must say the experience was a good one, and explained the after care too. ***** 5 star.Also they have parking for up to 3 cars, but I didnt notice so was driving up and down. There is a sign.

Very well looked after. I was really nervous but very soon this subsided. The receptionists were so welcoming, Dr Asaria put me at easy immediately and explained everything thoroughly. Lastly, I have to thank the dental nurses. Often forgotten, but they are so key to calm nerves. They treated me as a friend. As good as going to the dentist can be, this was great.

I had tooth pain and managed to get a last min cancellation with Dr Zainab... btw she's amazing. My tooth ache was unexplainable after taking 2 different types of xrays she gave me a special toothpaste and some advise of things to do for a week. She's booked me in next week to review it and has a plan in action if I'm still in pain. Her patience is amazing and can I also add her Nurse Christina is lovely... she was helping me through my gag reflex. Never have I had so much fun at the dentist whilst in pain. Thanks for being my 3rd (and last) ever dentist since childhood.Ps. The Netflix on the ceiling was a bonus.

Once you decide to spend money on implants, go to an expert. Dr Hussein Asaria is that expert. Every stage was undertaken with the utmost professionalism, and it is very obvious that he knows this subject inside out. He uses advanced computer graphics to demonstrate to clients what will be, and has been done. The fact that he can describe exactly what will happen, and how you will feel after each stage of the procedure, provides immense confidence.

I came in via a referral from my own dentist for a tooth extraction. I was very nervous going in due to a very traumatic emergency appointment a few weeks prior. From the get go, everyone was so kind and and welcoming When it came to booking the appointment, the team were very understanding when I explained what had happened previously, they assured me that the dentist would ensure the same thing would not happen.Dr Femi Oluteye and Nurse Ursula were absolute stars from the get go. After researching several Dental implant centres I chose to go with Hazelwood Dental practice I found them to be clear and honest about the whole process and reason for why the process would take several months as opposed to weeks in the end Price was not the only thing that I needed to consider but the actual procedure was being done properly. Dr Sachin is absolutely brilliant!!!I am petrified of Dentists due to past experiences, but I received a very professional service from beginning to end from Dr Sachin. I was also given an aftercare instruction leaflet to help me maintain and protect the health of my teeth.I am so happy with the service that I have received and would recommend Dr Sachin to everyone.The only downside about my experience is that he only does root canal treatments, so I am unable to see him for my normal dental care procedures. 😊Thank you again, Sachin!

I just had to leave a review after my 1st appointment at the clinic. I had my first implant with Dr Hussein Asaria last week. I was so scared I’ve been putting it off for years however it was such a pleasant experience. Dr Asaria was very reassuring and confident they’d be minimal discomfort and he was right. I felt no pain during and haven’t needed to take a single painkiller since, no swelling, no soreness - nothing! I will never go elsewhere now and highly recommend this incredible Dr who is clearly an expert in his field. Lovely reception team and dental nurses too. Thank you so much.

I was a nervous patient and was worried about having my tooth taken out. Dr Femi and his nurse were so amazing. I had a denture to be fitted and he has done that. It was done very quickly and the nurse was very caring.I have to say I have had no pain since. This is the second time I have seen Dr Femi and both times I cannot fault what he has done.

Dear Hazelwood Dental Practice, just to let you know that Femi and Christina did a fantastic job on my mother removing 3 front teeth. She had a bit of pain with the injections, but apart from that there was no pain with the removal of the teeth and no pain thereafter.
